Thorius pennatulus narismagnus Shannon and Werler, 1955, Trans. Kansas Acad. Sci., 58: 364. Holotype: FAS 4780, by original designation, now in UIMNH according to Brame and Gorham, 1972, Checklist Living & Fossil Salamand. World (Unpubl. MS): 303. Type locality: "from 3500-3000 feet altitute on the slopes of Volcan San Martín", Veracruz, Mexico.

San Martin Pigmy Salamander (Liner, 1994, Herpetol. Circ., 23: 15; Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 36).


Cloud forests on the Volcán San Martín  and Volcán Santa Marta in the Sierra de Tuxtlas, southern Veracruz, Mexico, 890-1200 m elevation.
