Holotype: FAS 4780, by original designation, now in UIMNH according to Brame and Gorham, 1972, Checklist Living & Fossil Salamand. World (Unpubl. MS): 303. Type locality: "from 3500-3000 feet altitute on the slopes of Volcan San Martín", Veracruz, Mexico.

Distribution

Cloud forests on the Volcán San Martín and Volcán Santa Marta in the Sierra de Tuxtlas, southern Veracruz, Mexico, 890-1200 m elevation.
