Distribution

Southern Veracruz and Puebla to Guerrero and Oaxaca, west of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Mexico.

: 1051–1073, discussed genetic variation and taxonomy of the genus. Hanken and Wake, 1994, Copeia, 1994: 573–589, and Hanken and Wake, 1998, Copeia, 1998: 312–345, described several new species.
