Spelerpes (Oedipus) infuscatus Peters, 1879, Monatsber. Preuss. Akad. Wiss. Berlin, 1879: 778. Holotype: ZMB 6556 according to Bauer, Günther, and Klipfel, 1995, in Bauer et al. (eds.), Herpetol. Contr. W.C.H. Peters: 40. Type locality: "Hayti [= Haiti]; in error according to Dunn, 1924, Occas. Pap. Boston Soc. Nat. Hist., 5: 95, who also made the synonymy with this species (but see Wake, 1993, Herpetologica, 49: 229-237, who placed this taxon in the synonymy of Thorius, possibly of Thorius narisovalis). Type locality restricted to "Metlac", Veracruz, Mexico by Smith and Taylor, 1950, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 33: 349.

Thorius narisovalis Taylor, 1940 "1939", Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 26: 416. Holotype: EHT-HMS 17859, by original designation; now FMNH 100089 according to Marx, 1976, Fieldiana, Zool., 69: 41. Type locality: "elevation of about 2,600-3,00 meters on Cerro San Felipe, 15 km. north[east] of Oaxaca, Oaxaca", Mexico.

Distribution

Known only from Oaxaca, Mexico, in three areas: (1) the vicinity of the type locality (Cerro San Felipe), the (2) vicinity of Zaachila, in central Oaxaca, and (3) the vicinity of Tlaxiaco, in cloud forests in pine-oak woodland, 2600-3000 m elevation
