Thorius spilogaster Hanken and Wake, 1998, Copeia, 1998: 314. Holotype: MVZ 183109, by original designation. Type locality: "forest above Xometla, Veracruz, México, elevation 8600-8640 ft".

Spotted Thorius (Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 37).


South and southeast flanks of Volcán Orizaba, in the vicinity of the type locality (Xometla) and the village of El Berro, central Veracruz, Mexico, 2500–2725 m elevation.
