Type locality: "Bellcollar Gap (35° 19′ 20″ N 83° 41′ 11″ W), 0.6 km southwest of the top of Cheoah Bald, at an elevation of 1445 m, Graham-Swain County line, North Carolina", USA.

In the Plethodon glutinosus group, Plethodon jordani complex, according to the original publication. Weisrock and Larson, 2006, Biol. J. Linn.
