Comment
Literature of Neurergus strauchii prior to the recognition of Neurergus barani may apply to this species as well. Özdemir, Üzüm, Avcı, and Olgun, 2009, Herpetologica, 65: 280-291, discussed phylogeography and suggested that Neurergus strauchii barani (now Neurergus barani) is not distinguishable from Neurergus strauchi., but see comments under Neurergus strauchii. Kurnaz and Şahin, 2021, Turkish J. Zool., 45: 54–64, provided a niche modeling analysis which further supported the recognition of this species, distinct from Neurergeus strauchii. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 403–405, provided an account, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
