Comment
Formally levated from subspecies status under Lyciasalamandra luschani by Scott, Najafi-Majd, Caynak, Gidiş, Kaya, and Shaffer, 2024 "2025", Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 202 (108205): 1–11, who reported on phylogenetics. Moravec, 1997, in Böhme et al. (eds.), Herpetol. Bonn.: 284, considered this taxon a synonym of Mertensiella luschani helverseni, but this was implicitly not accepted by Veith and Steinfartz, 2004, Salamandra, 40: 76. Beukema, de Pous, and Brakels, 2009, Z. Feldherpetol., 16: 115–126, discussed the range of Lyciasalamandra luschani finikensis. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 186–212, provided an account (as Lyciasalamandra luschani finikensis), summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution. See Lyciasalamandra luschani record for other, possibly relevant literature.
