See also taxonomic discussion of Savage and Wake, 2001, Copeia, 2001: 52–64. Reyes-Velasco, Burkhardt, and Jones, 2008, Herpetol. Rev., 39: 480, provided a second record from Michoacán and provided a brief statement of the known records in southwestern Mexico.
