Brasilotyphlus guarantanus Maciel, Mott, and Hoogmoed, 2009, Zootaxa, 2226: 21. Holotype: MPEG 22382, by original designation. Type locality: "Brazil, state of Mato Grosso, Municipality of Guarantã do Norte, S 9° 40′ 59.44″ W 54° 57′ 46.58″".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Municipality of Guarantã do Norte) in northern Mato Grosso, and the Municipality of Parauapebas, in the southern part of state of Pará, Brazil.

Faria and Mott, 2011, Herpetol. Notes, 4: 53-56, discussed the range in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Maciel and Hoogmoed, 2011, Zootaxa, 2984: 19-27, provided a detailed account and a spot map.
