Luetkenotyphlus brasiliensis (Lütken, 1851)
Siphonops brasiliensis Lütken, 1851, Vidensk. Medd. Dansk Naturhist. Foren., 1851: 52. Holotype: ZMUC 11 RO-237, according to Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 588; now ZMUC R. 0237 by museum records (personal commun., H. Kristensen, 24 Nov. 2010). Type locality: "Brasilien"; corrected to São Paulo, Brazil, by Taylor, 1973, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 226, and this confirmed by museum records.

Distribution
Eastern and south-central Minas Gerais (Municipality of Ritápolis) through the state of São Paulo, Brazil, southwest to Misiones Province, Argentina, and southern Paraguay.

Argentina record by Heer and Lanari, 1998, Herpetol. Rev., 29: 244. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 7, briefly discussed the range in Paraguay. Weiler, Núñez, Airaldi, Lavilla, Peris, and Baldo, 2013, Anf. Paraguay: 25, provided a brief account, image, and dot map for Paraguay. Mott, Moura, Maciel, and Feio, 2011, Phyllomedusa, 10: 153–163, reported on morphological variation and range. Maciel, Castro, Sturaro, Silva, Ferreira, Santos, Risse-Quaioto, Barboza, Oliveira, Sampaio, and Schneider, 2019, Zool. Anz., 281: 76–83, confirmed with molecular markers the placement of the species in Luetkenotyphlus. Hudson, Oliveira, Lopez, and Sousa, 2024, Herpetol. Rev., 55: 18, provided a record from the Municipality of Ritápolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and discussed the literature of the known distribution.
