Discoglossus scovazzi Camerano, 1878, Atti Accad. Sci. Torino, Cl. Sci. Fis. Mat. Nat., 13: 548. Syntypes: 17 specimens, including MZUT An278 (Tetuan) and 280 (Tangier), by original designation. Also including BMNH 1920.1.20.535a,g (reregistered as 1947.2.25.77–78), according to museum records. Type localities: "Tetuan", "Tangeri" (= Tangier), and "Mogador", Morocco.

Common Names

Moroccan Painted Frog (Beukema, de Pous, Donaire-Barroso, Bogaerts, Garcia-Porta, Escoriza, Arribas, El Mouden, and Carranza, 2013, Zootaxa, 3661: 33). 

Distribution

Mediterranean Morocco (southwest to Noun on the Atlantic coast) and North African Spanish territories of Melilla and Ceuta, below 2600 m elevation; possible relict population in the Saoura Valley of southwestern Algeria (see comment).
