Comment

Closely related to Odontophrynus moratoi (= Proceratophrys moratoi) according to the original publication. Brandão and Batista, 2000, Iheringia, Zool., 89: 165-171, discussed the tadpole and the species' range. Amaro, Pavan, and Rodrigues, 2009, Zootaxa, 2071: 65, suggested that this species is actually a member of ProceratophrysVaz-Silva, Maciel, Nomura, Morais, Guerra Batista, Santos, Andrade, Oliveira, Brandão, and Bastos, 2020, Guia Ident. Anf. Goiás e Dist. Fed. Brasil Central: 166–167, provided an account for Goiás, Brazil. Magalhães, Brandão, Garda, and Mângia, 2020, Herpetol. J., 30: 189–196,  discussed the generic assignment and range and compared the call to its sister taxon, Proceratophrys moratoi. Santos, Feio, and Nomura, 2023, Biota Neotrop., 23 (3:e20231486): 1–43, characterized tadpole morphology as part of an identification key to the tadpoles of the Brazilian Cerrado.
