Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, iconfirmed the sister taxon relationship of Haddadus and Craugastor. See comment under Craugastor. Amaro, Nunes, Canedo, Napoli, Juncá, Verdade, Haddad, and Rodrigues, 2013, Zootaxa, 3741: 569–582, redelimited and rediagnosed the genus. See comment by Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 52, on the difficulty of morphological diagnosis of this taxon.
