Known only from the type locality (La Enramada) in the province of Azuay, on the southwestern slopes of the the Cordillera Occidental of the Andes of Ecuador, 2950 m elevation

J. M. Guayasamin, L. A. Coloma, and A. Terán-Valdez in Coloma and Duellman, 2025, Amph. Ecuador. Vol. 4: 429–430, provided an account, with photographs, which summarized identification, adult morphology, systematics, natural history, distribution (including a dot map for Ecuador), and conservation.
