Comment
Previously confused with Vitreorana eurygnatha according to the original publication. Lisboa, Santos, Torquato da Silva, Guarnieri, and Mott, 2019, Herpetol. Notes, 12: 957–960, provided a record from the state of Alagoas, Brazil, provided a dot map and a discussion of reproductive biology. Bang, Lisboa, Teixeira, Giaretta, and Carvalho, 2020, Phyllomedusa, 19: 35–47, described the advertisement call. Zucchetti, Rojas-Padilla, Dias, Solé, and Castroviejo-Fisher, 2021, Salamandra, 57: 353–370, reported on reproductive biology and suggested on the basis of mtDNA that this species is the sister taxon of Vitreorana gorzulae.
