Distribution

Highlands of southeastern Brazil  in southern Santa Catarina to extreme eastern Minas Gerais, to Bahia; isolated record from the municipality of Luziânia, Goiás, Brazil.

In the Hyalinobatrachium parvulum group, according to Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 1–30. See account by Heyer, Rand, Cruz, Peixoto, and Nelson, 1990, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 31: 250–251. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 32, provided a brief account and photo. Freitas, Silva, and Argôlo, 2004, Herpetol. Rev., 35: 281, provided a record for Bahia and briefly discussed the range in Brazil. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 82, excluded this species from Hyalinobatrachium and it is therefore listed here as "Hyalinobatrachium" eurygnathum to denote that it is not formally attached to any genus within Centroleninae. Freitas, Silva, and Fonseca, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 475, provided a record for northern Bahia, Brazil. Guayasamin, Castroviejo-Fisher, Ayarzagüena, Trueb, and Vilà, 2008, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 48: 574–595, suggested this species to form the sister taxon of a group composed of Cochranella helenae and Cochranella oyampiensis—the Cochranella helenae group by implication. Cruz, Feio, and Caramaschi, 2009, Anf. Ibitipoca: 66–67, provided photographs and a brief account for Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Cintra, Silva, and Silva, 2013, Herpetol. Notes, 6: 587–590, provided a map and and an isolated record from the municipality of Luziânia, Goiás, Brazil. Freitas, Abegg, Dias, and Moraes, 2018, Herpetol. Notes, 11: 59–72, provided a record from the Serra da Jibóia, Bahia, Brazil. Paz, Spanos, Brown, Lyra, Haddad, Rodrigues, and Carnaval, 2019, Heredity, 122: 545–557, reported on molecular phylogeography. Ferreira, Mônico, Silva, Lirio, Zocca, Mageski, Tonini, Beard, Duca, and Silva-Soares, 2019, ZooKeys, 857: 152, noted an unnamed species, "Vitreorana aff. eurygnatha" in the region of Santa Teresa, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Santos-Pereira, Pombal, and Rocha, 2018, Biota Neotrop., 18 (3: e20170322): 1–19, suggested that an isolated record from Paraná, Brazil, requires confirmation. Bang, Lisboa, Teixeira, Giaretta, and Carvalho, 2020, Phyllomedusa, 19: 35–47, described the advertisement calls. Dias, Anganoy-Criollo, Rada, and Grant, 2020, Zool. Anz., 289: 118–122, described larval buccopharyngeal morphology in a phylogenetic context. Pezzuti, Leite, Rossa-Feres, and Garcia, 2021, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 22 (Special Issue): 1–109, described larval morphology and natural history, and provides a key to the larvae of southernmost portion of the Espinhaço Range, southeastern Brazil.
