Comment

Very similar to Cochranella oyampiensis (as Centrolenella) according to the original publication. Placed in the Cochranella spinosa group by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 365. Transferred to Hyalinobatrachium by Barrio-Amorós, 1999 "1998", Acta Biol. Venezuelica, 18: 14–15, but this was rejected by Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 1–82. Señaris and Ayarzagüena, 2005, Rev. Taxonom. Fam. Centrolenidae de Venezuela: 113–121, provided a review of the morphology, natural history, and range of this species (as Cochranella helenae). See account by Kok and Castroviejo-Fisher, 2008, Zootaxa, 1680: 39–43, who provided new records from Guyana and Venezuela (and noted that the record from Salto Karuay had previously been assigned to Cochranella oyampiensis) and noted this species to be a member of the Cochranella helenae group. Kok and Kalamandeen, 2008, Intr. Taxon. Amph. Kaieteur Natl. Park: 140–141, provided an account. See Cole, Townsend, Reynolds, MacCulloch, and Lathrop, 2013, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 125: 384–385, for brief account and records for Guyana. Señaris, Lampo, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2014, Guía Ilust. Anf. Parque Nac. Canaima: 84–85, provided a photograph and a brief account for the Parque Nacional de Canaima, Venezuela. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 23, for comments on range, taxonomy, and literature. Señaris and Rojas-Runjaic, 2020, in Rull and Carnaval (eds.), Neotrop. Divers. Patterns Process.: 571–632, commented on range and conservation status in the Venezuelan Guayana.
