Comment
In the Hyalinobatrachium parvulum group, according to Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 1–30. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 82, excluded this species from Hyalinobatrachium. Zucchetti and Castroviejo-Fisher, 2024, Zootaxa, 5415:: 351–391, reported on molecular markers, comparative morphology, and advertisement calls to support their synonymy of Vitreorana uranoscopa with Vitreorana parvula.
Comment from former Vitreorana uranoscopa (now in synonymy): In the Hyalinobatrachium parvulum group, according to Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1991, Lozania, 57: 1–30. Duellman, 1993, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 21: 52, suggested that the specimens from Argentina (Contreras, 1982, Hist. Nat., Corrientes, 2: 191) need to be confirmed. Contreras, 1982, Hist. Nat., Corrientes, 2: 191, as Centrolenella vanzolinii, and Stetson, 2001 "2000", Cuad. Herpetol., 14: 167, provided Argentinian records. See account by Heyer, Rand, Cruz, Peixoto, and Nelson, 1990, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 31: 251–252. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 33, provided a brief account and photo. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 82, excluded this species from Hyalinobatrachium but did not formally attach the species to any genus within Centroleninae. Canelas and Bertoluci, 2007, Iheringia, Zool., 97: 21–26, provided a record for the Serra do Caraça, southern end of the Serra do Espinhaço, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 27, suggested that this species likely occurs in Paraguay. Machado, Moreira, Silva, Becker, and Mesquita, 2010, Check List, 6: 410–411, provided a record for eastern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Cruz, Feio, and Caramaschi, 2009, Anf. Ibitipoca: 68–69, provided photographs and a brief account for Parque Estadual do Ibitipoca, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Savaris, Lampert, Lucas, Peres, Orsato, Rezende, and Argerich, 2011, Check List, 7: 841–842, provided new records for Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Zaracho, 2014, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 9: 83–89, redescribed the advertisement call of the species and provided new information on natural history. Machado, Bühler, Abadie, Santos, and Santos, Herpetol. Notes, 7: 443–446, provided a number of new records in northern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Dias, Medeiros, Nova, and Solé, 2014, ZooKeys, 449: 118, provided a range extension to the Serra Bonita in the state Espirito Santo, Brazil, and commented on the range. Paz, Spanos, Brown, Lyra, Haddad, Rodrigues, and Carnaval, 2019, Heredity, 122: 545–557, reported on molecular phylogeography. Bang, Lisboa, Teixeira, Giaretta, and Carvalho, 2020, Phyllomedusa, 19: 35–47, described the advertisement call. Dias, Anganoy-Criollo, Rada, and Grant, 2020, Zool. Anz., 289: 118–122, described larval buccopharyngeal morphology in a phylogenetic context. Pezzuti, Leite, Rossa-Feres, and Garcia, 2021, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 22 (Special Issue): 1–109, described larval morphology and natural history, and provides a key to the larvae of southernmost portion of the Espinhaço Range, southeastern Brazil.
