Hyalinobatrachium mesai Barrio-Amorós and Brewer-Carias, 2008, Zootaxa, 1942: 18. Holotype: EBRG 4644, by original designation. Type locality: "from Locality VI on the southern slope of Sarisariñama-tepui, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela (4º 25′ N, 64º 7′ W), elevation 420 m".

Known only from the type locality (southern slope of Sarisariñama-tepui, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela, 420 m elevation).

See comment under Hyalinobatrachium iaspidiense. Yánez-Muñoz, Pérez-Peña, and Cisneros-Heredia, 2009, Herpetol. Notes, 2: 50, discussed the possibility of this and Hyalinobatrachium iaspidiense being conspecific and retained them as distinct.
