Comment
See account by Coloma, 1995, Misc. Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 87: 46. Almendáriz C. and Orcés, 2004, Rev. Politécnica, Quito, 25: 111, provided distributional data for Ecuador. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Colostethus pulchellus) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 225. See note by Guayasamin and Funk, 2009, Zootaxa, 2220: 41–66, on this species at the Yanayacu Biological Station, Napo, Ecuador. Pisso-Florez, Liévano-Bonilla, Mazepa, Mulder, and Ramírez-Chaves, 2023, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 28: 78–88, provided a dot map of this species and Hyloxalus cf. pulchellus and discussed its phylogenetic position.
