Colostethus sordidatus Duellman, 2004, Sci. Pap. Nat. Hist. Mus. Univ. Kansas, 35: 35. Holotype: KU 211960, by original designation. Type locality: "30 km SW of Zapatero (about 10 km NE San José de Sisa (ca. 05° 45′ S, 76° 33′ W), 500 m, Provincia de Lamas, Departamento de San Martín, Peru".

Known only from the type locality at an elevation of 500 m near the eastern base of the Cordillera Central and from an elevation of 520 m southwest of Chiriaco near the northern end of the Cordillera Central, Peru.
