Pseudopaludicola giarettai Carvalho, 2012, Zootaxa, 3328: 48. Holotype: AAG-UFU 0312, by original designation. Type locality: "on the Mato do Engenho smallholding (18° 46′ 08.54″ S; 44° 26′ 53.83″ W, 621 m above sea level), Municipality of Curvelo, State of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil".

Not assigned to species group in the original publication, where external morphology and advertisement call were described. Carvalho, Borges-Martins, Teixeira, Godinho, and Giaretta, 2015, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 55: 245–254, discussed acoustic and morphological intraspecific variation as well as providing new geographic localities and distribution map.
