Comment
The epithet hansi is a noun in apposition, not a genitive, as noted in the original publication. Stuart, Sok, and Neang, 2006, Raffles Bull. Zool., 54: 135, reported the species in Cambodia and who noted that the animal pictured of the holotype in the original publication was neither the holotype nor a specimen of Ophryophryne hansi. See comments by Inger, Orlov, and Darevsky, 1999, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 92: 9 (as Ophryophryne poilani). Stuart, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 475, provided records for Laos. Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 312, noted the occurrence of this species in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 108, provided records from Thua Thien-Hue Province, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range. Neang and Holden, 2008, Field Guide Amph. Cambodia: 46, provided a brief account of identification, ecology, and range in Cambodia. Tran, Le, Le, Vu, Nguyen, Böhme, and Ziegler, 2010, Herpetol. Notes, 3: 111–119, provided a record from Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam, and provided a brief morphological diagnosis. Tapley, Cutajar, Mahony, Nguyen, Dau, Nguyen, Luong, and Rowley, 2017, Zootaxa, 4344: 465–492, provided localities and comparative morphology. Poyarkov, Duong, Orlov, Gogoleva, Vassilieva, Nguyen, Nguyen, Nguyen, Che, and Mahony, 2017, ZooKeys, 672: 59, provided genetically-confirmed records from Quang Nam, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum provinces, Vietnam. Do, Ngo, and Nguyen, 2017, Hue Univ. J. Sci: Nat. Sci., 126: 84, provided a record from Phu Yen Province, southern Vietnam, and commented on coloration, range, and ecology. Stuart, Seateun, Sivongxay, and Phimmachak, 2025 "2024", in Wildlife Lao PDR: 34, summarized literature, taxonomy, habitat, and detailed range for Laos.
