Type locality: "western slope of Meratus Mountain Range, Jumantir Camp Site, (Desa) Village of Juhu, (Kecamatan) District of Batang Alai Timur, (Kabupaten) Regency of Hulu Sungai Tengah, in the province of Kalimantan Timur, Borneo, Indonesia (-2.684389° S, 115.615167° E, elevation 1000 m a.s.l.)". Common Names
Kalimantan Horned Frog (original publication).
Distribution
Known from two widely separated regions on Borneo: 1) montane southeastern Kalimantan, Indonesia, and 2) montane northeastern Sarawak into the Crocker Range of western Sabah, Malaysia, presumably extending into montane northeastern Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Geographic Occurrence
Natural Resident: Indonesia, Malaysia, Malaysia, East (Sarawak and/or Sabah)
Comment
The sister taxon of Megophrys nasuta (in the subgenus Pelobatrachus), with which this species was formerly confused, according to the original publication.
