Comment
Venegas, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 76, provided the record from San Martín, Peru. Lehr, Fritzsch, and Müller, 2005, Zool. Scripta, 34: 599, noted that "Phrynopus" carpish is not a hyloid, but instead a microhylid of an unnamed genus (subsequently named Melanophryne). See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Phrynopus carpish) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 404.
