Comment
Biju, 2001, Occas. Publ. Indian Soc. Conserv. Biol., 1: 19, doubted the validity of this nominal taxon (as Nyctibatrachus hussaini) but did not state which species that he considered it synonymous. Das and Kunte, 2005, J. Herpetol., 39: 469, noted that the name Nyctibatrachus hussaini was not available under the Code for reason of lacking a designated type, although (I. Das, personal communication), they regarded the then formally unnamed population as a distinct species). Daniels, 2005, Amph. Peninsular India: 224-226, provided an account (as Nyctibatrachus hussaini). See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Nyctibatrachus hussaini) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 488. Biju, Van Bocxlaer, Mahony, Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Zachariah, Giri, and Bossuyt, 2011, Zootaxa, 3029: 45-46, provided an account. In the "northern clade", Nyctibatrachus sanctipalustris group, of Van Bocxlaer, Biju, Willaert, Giri, Shouche, and Bossuyt, 2012, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 62: 839-847. A very brief characterization, photograph, and dot map provided by Subramanian, Dinesh, and Radhakrishnan, 2013, Atlas of Endemic Amph. W. Ghats: 90.
