Odontophrynus monachus Caramaschi and Napoli, 2012, Zootaxa, 3155: 13. Holotype: ZUEC 4440, by original designation. Type locality: "Parque Nacional da Serra da Canastra (20° 10′ S, 46° 30′ W, ca. 1350 m a.s.l.), headwaters of the São Francisco River, Municipality of São Roque de Minas, State of Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil".

Comment
In the Odontophrynus cultripes group according to the original publication. Menegucci, Santos, Magalhães, Machado, Garcia, and Pezzuti, 2016, Zootaxa, 4161: 549–553, reported on larval morphology.
