Confused prior to its naming with Batrachuperus pinchonii, but according to molecular analysis most closely related to Batrachuperus yenyuanensis according to the original publication. See accounts (as Batrachuperus pinchonii) by Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 25–27, and Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 15.
