Hynobius abuensis Matsui, Okawa, Nishikawa, and Tominaga in Matsui, Okawa, Nishikawa, Aoki, Eto, Yoshikawa, Tanabe, Misawa, and Tominaga, 2019, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 38: 67. Holotype: KUHE 35904, by original designation. Type locality: "Ato-Kaneshimo, Yamaguchi-shi, Yamaguchi Prefecture (34°28'24"N, 131°40'52"E, alt. 472 m)", Japan. 

English Names

Abu Salamander (original publication). 


Known only from a small area in the Chugoku Region (Shimane and Yamaguchi Prefectures), western Honshu, Japan, 150–970 m elevation. 


Prior to its naming confused with Hynobius nebulosus according to the original publication.
