According to the original publication previously confused with both Hynobius quelpartensis and Hynobius leechiiRaffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 85–86, provided an account, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map). Andersen, Chuang, Choe, Kim, Kwon, Jang, and Borzée, 2022, Zool. Stud., Taipei, 61(25): 1–10, reported on the elevational range (16–241 m) in Rep. Korea.
