Distribution

In extreme southern Rep. Korea from the foot of Jiri Mountain on the northwest, Gwangyang on the southwest, Masan on the southeast and Haman on the northeast, 1–1159 m elevation; also present the islands of Namhae, Changseong, and Geoje off the southern coast.

Comment

Previously confused with Hynobius leechii and Hynobius quelpartensis, according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 84–85, provided an account, covering systematics, life history, and distribution (including a polygon map). Andersen, Chuang, Choe, Kim, Kwon, Jang, and Borzée, 2022, Zool. Stud., Taipei, 61(25): 1–10, reported on the elevational range (1–1159 m) in Rep. Korea.
