Holotype: KUHE 7313, by original designation. Type locality: "Takae, Fukube-cho, Tottori-shi, Tottori Prefecture (35°32'31"N, 134°16'42"E, alt. 50 m)", Japan. 

English Names

 San’in salamander (original publication). 


 Southern Honshu, Japan, in mainly lowland areas along the Japan Sea from northwestern Hyogo Prefecture to eastern Shimane Prefecture. 


Confused with Hynobius nebulosus prior to its naming, according to the original publication.
