Distribution
Southeast-central Humboldt County and south-central Trinity County north through Del Norte County and western Siskiyou County, California, to southern Josephine and Jackson Counties of Oregon, USA.

Comment
In the Aneides flavipunctatus complex and recognized as an unnamed species by Rissler and Apodaca, 2007, Syst. Biol., 56: 924–942; subsequently named by Reilly and Wake, 2019, PeerJ, 7(e:7370): 1–36, who studied the contact zone with Aneides flavipunctatus in southern Humboldt County, California, USA, and revised the entire complex. See comment under Aneides flavipunctatus for access to relevant taxonomic literature. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 958, provided an account summarizing morphology, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
