Uraeotyphlus gansi Gower, Rajendran, Nussbaum, and Wilkinson, 2008, Herpetologica, 64: 235. Holotype: BNHS 4615, by original designation. Type locality: "the end of Nalumukku tea estate towards Upper Kodayar (8° 33′ N, 77° 21′ E; 1265 m), in the environs of Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, part of the Agasthiyamalai Biosphere Reserve, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu State, India".
Common Names
Gansi Caecilian (Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Gururaja, and Bhatta, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 302: 131).
Kodayar Unicolour Caecilian (Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Deepak, and Kulkarni, 2023, Fauna India Checklist, vers. 5.0 : 16).
Distribution
Known with any precision only from the vicinity of the type locality in the vicinity of the Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, part of the Agasthiyamalai Biosphere Reserve, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu State, India.

Comment
In the Uraeotyphlus malabaricus group according to the original publication. A brief characterization and dot map provided by Subramanian, Dinesh, and Radhakrishnan, 2013, Atlas of Endemic Amph. W. Ghats: 184. Venu, Rajendran, Raju, Browne, Ramakrishna, and Venkatachalaiah, 2021, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 109: 443–448, reported on the karyotype.
