Comment

Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 139, suggested that Clinotarsus curtipes is the sister taxon of Meristogenys as did Che, Pang, Zhao, Wu, Zhao, and Zhang, 2007, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 43: 1-13. Previously placed in the section Hylarana, subsection Hylarana, sole member of the subgenus Clinotarsus of Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 328. Matsui, Shimada, Ota, and Tanaka-Ueno, 2005, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 37: 733–742, found Nasirana (as Rana [Nasirana] alticola) as the sister taxon of a cluster of species assigned by Frost et al. (2006) to Sylvirana, Humerana, and Hylarana. Stuart, 2008, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 46: 54, recovered Nasirana as the sister taxon of Clinotarsus and considered Nasirana a synonym of Clinotarsus. Wiens, Sukumaran, Pyron, and Brown, 2009, Evolution, 63: 1217–1231, corroborated the results of Stuart (2008). Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, confirmed Clinotarsus as rendering Huia paraphyletic, but this result was obscured by the employment of an antiquated taxonomy. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 330–331, provided a brief account (description, photographs, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). Arifin, Chan, Smart, Hertwig, Smith, Iskandar, and Haas, 2021, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 193: 673–699, provided a mt- and nuDNA tree weakly placing Clinotarsus as the sister taxon of Sumaterana
