Centrolene litoralis Ruiz-Carranza and Lynch, 1996, Lozania, 68: 7. Holotype: ICN 13821, by original designation. Type locality: "Departamento de Nariño, municipio de Tumaco, La Guayacana, Litoral Pacífico, 1° 49.8′ Latitud N, 78° 46.2′ W de Greenwich, 100 m.", Colombia.

Common Names

Litoral Glassfrog (Guayasamin, Cisneros-Heredia, McDiarmid, Peña, and Hutter, 2020, Diversity, 12 (222): 82). 

Distribution

Known type locality (La Guayacana, Nariño, Colombia, 100 m elevation) south along the Chocoan lowlands to Esmeraldas Province, Ecuador, below 260 m elevation.

Comment

In the Centrolene peristictum group, according to the original publication. Guayasamin, Cisneros-Heredia, Yánez-Muñoz, and Bustamante, 2006, Check List, 2(1): 70-74, discussed the range and provided records for Ecuador. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 54, discussed the species in Ecuador and provided access to the relevant literature, and noted an undescribed species under this name from western Ecuador. Guayasamin, Cisneros-Heredia, McDiarmid, Peña, and Hutter, 2020, Diversity, 12 (222): 82–81, provided a detailed account, including adult morphology, relationships, natural history, and conservation status.
