Comment
Related to Rana spinosa according to the original publication, although Dubois' taxonomy suggests that this is incorrect. See Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 150–153. See accounts by Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China: 289; and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 220–221. Fei and Ye, 2001, Color Handbook Amph. Sichuan: 188, provided a brief account and illustration (as Paa quadrana). Fan, Guo, and Liu, 1998, Amph. Rept. Shanxi Prov.: 73–75, provided an account for Shanxi. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status (as Chaparana quadranus) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 628. See comment under Nanorana with regard to the status of Feirana. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1430–1437, provided an accounts (as Feirana quadranus), figures, and map. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 382–383, provided a brief account (as Feirana quadranus) including photographs of specimens and habitat. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 476–477, provided an account (as Feirana quadranus), photographs, and a range map. Huang, Duan, and Ji, 2014, Zootaxa, 3779: 497–500, reported on larval morphology (as Feirana quadranus). See comments by Zhao, Wang, Wang, Liu, and Lu, 2015, J. Henan Normal Univ. (Nat. Sci.), 46: 705–711, reassigning previous records from Henan as Feirana taihangnicus and Yerana yei. Yao and Gong, 2012, Amph. Rept. Gansu: 57–58, provided a brief account and photographs.
