Yang and Zhao, 2005, Sichuan J. Zool., 24: 309–311, provided a specific location and habitat (as Occidozyga lima). Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 89, provided a brief account (as Occidozyga lima) for Yunnan, China. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1587–1591, provided an account (as Occidozyga lima), figures, and range map for China. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 418, provided a brief account (as Occidozyga lima) including photographs. Shi, 2011, Amph. Rept. Fauna Hainan: 88–89, provided an account (as Occidozyga lima) for Hainan. Li, 2011, Amph. Rept. Guangdong: 63–64, provided a brief account (as Occidozyga lima) for Guangdong, China, and photograph. Li, 2011, Amph. Rept. Guangdong: 64, provided a brief account for Guangdong, China, and photograph. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 490, provided an account (as Occidozyga lima), photographs, and a range map for China. Lyu, Wang, Zeng, Luo, Zhang, Guo, Ren, Qi, Mo, and Wang, 2022, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 72: 495–512, excluded populations in China formerly associated with this name to Occidozyga obscura and noted that, except for Java, the stated range is composed of unnamed species. Removed from the synonymy of Occidozyga lima by Lyu, Wang, Zeng, Luo, Zhang, Guo, Ren, Qi, Mo, and Wang, 2022, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 72: 504, where it had been placed by Dubois, 1981, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Suppl., 15: 245–246. Lyu et al., 2022, provided a detailed account, including morphology, molecular markers, natural history, conservation status, and distribution. See also comments under Occidozyga lima for access to literature that may have addressed these populations as part of Occidozyga lima.
