Comment
In the Rana (Odorrana) andersonii group of Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 329. Discussed by Boulenger, 1920, Rec. Indian Mus., 20: 174; Pope, 1931, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 61: 550–553; Liu, 1950, Fieldiana, Zool. Mem., 2: 297–303; Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 354–357; Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 206–208; Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 116–118, and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 194. Smith, 1940, Rec. Indian Mus., 42: 465–486, reported the species from extreme northern Myanmar (Pangnamdim), near the Arunachal Pradesh, northeastern India, and Yunnan, China, borders and this has seemingly not subsequently addressed. Nabhitabhata, 1989, in Wongsiri and Laolohakarn (eds.), Biodiversity in Thailand: 169–204, reported the species in northern Thailand and this seemingly not subsequently addressed. Li, Ye, and Fei, 2001, Acta Zootaxon. Sinica, 26: 234–238, suggested on the basis of morphometric data that there are three species under this one binominal (in China): (1) the Longling population that bears the name; (2) a species on Hainan Island (now Odorrana hainaneisis); and (3) Jingdong population (now Odorrana jingdonensis). Zhang and Wen, 2000, Amph. Guangxi: 102, provided an account (as Odorrana andersonii) for Guangxi. See also brief account by Zhao and Yang, 1997, Amph. Rept. Hengduan Mountains Region: 81–83. Nutphund, 2001, Amph. Thailand: 104, provided a brief characterization and photograph (which Ohler, 2003, Alytes, 21: 103, regarded as being of Rana lateralis). Stuart, 1999, in Duckworth et al. (eds.), Wildlife in Lao PDR: 48, reported the species for the Annamite Mountains of Laos. Bain, Lathrop, Murphy, Orlov, and Ho, 2003, Am. Mus. Novit., 3417: 1–60, provided morphological comparisons (as Odorrana andersonii). Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 26, provided specific localities for Vietnam and (p. 149) a photograph. In the Odorrana (Odorrana) andersonii group of Fei, Ye, Huang, Jiang, and Xie, 2005, in Fei et al. (eds.), Illust. Key Chinese Amph.: 126. Indian record by Sarkar and Ray, 2006, In Alfred (ed.), Fauna of Arunachal Pradesh, Part 1: 294, provided a brief account and the first record for Arunachal Pradesh, northeastern India, which they noted was based on a poorly preserved single specimen. Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Gururaja, and Bhatta, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 302: 81, listed it as part of the Indian fauna. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 76, provided a brief account (as Rana andersonii) for Yunnan, China. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1242–1246, provided an account, figures, and map for China, placed it in their Odorrana andersonii group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 326, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 365, provided an account, photographs, and a range map for China that implies that records outside of Yunnan, China, and adjacent Myanmar may apply to another species in this group (DRF), although it is unclear whether populations outside of China were addressed by these authors. Makchai, Chuaynkern, Safoowong, Chuachat, and Cota, 2020, Amph. N. Thailand: 138–139, provided a brief account (as Odorrana andersonii), photographs, and a range map for Thailand (Chiang Mai Province). Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 51, also noted (as Odorrana yunnanensis) that Vietnam and Laos records require confirmation, without mentioning the India, Myanmar, and Thailand records. See Dubois, 2021, Bionomina, 24: 41, for a discussion of the nomenclature of this species. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 38, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar (Kachin).
