31 December 2022: Added a comment under Macrogenioglottus alipioi (Anura: Odontophrynidae), noting the publication of : 181–203, who reported on reproduction, vocalization, and larval development.

30 November 2022: I've had a lot on my plate for the last several weeks, so thought I should mention here that I am starting to work though a very large volume, Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World. It provides a readable summary of the systematics and natural history, with good photos and/or illustrations of all of the salamanders of the world. So, just in time for Christmas!
28 November 2022: Modified the range statement of Amolops putaoensis (Ranidae) and added a comment under that species record to note the publication of Zhang, Liu, Stuart, Wu, Wang, Che, and Yuan, 2022, Herpetozoa, Wien, 35: 231–237, who reported a genetically confirmed population from the upper Dulong River System in Gongshan County, Yunnan Province, China, as well as augmenting the morphological description of the species.
26 November 2022: Added a comment under Pristimantis (Strabomantidae), noting the publication of Acevedo-Rincón, Palma, and Olalla‑Tárraga, 2022, Sci. Rep. (Nature, London), 12 (18106): 1–13, who reported on the ecological trends of body size within Pristimantis, based on a molecular phylogeny of 257 species from within the genus.

20 October 2022: Added the new Colombian genus Serranobatrachus (Brachycephaloidea), the sister taxon of Tachiramantis for former Pristimantis carmelitae, Pristimantis cristinae, Pristimantis delicatus, Pristimantis insignitus, Pristimantis meglops, Pristimantis ruthveni, and Pristimantis sanctaemartae, following the discovery by Arroyo, Targino, Rueda-Solano, Daza-R., and Grant, 2022, Syst. Biodiversity, 20 (1: 2123865): 1–25, that this group of species forms the sister taxon of Tachiramantis. In addition, transferred Pristimantis cuentasi, Pristimantis padrecarlosi, and Pristimantis tayrona to Tachiramantis.

4 October 2022: Added a comment under Salamandra infraimmaculata (Salamandridae), noting the publication of Kurnaz, 2022, J. Wildl. Biodivers., Arak, 6: 82–96, who mapped the current range in Turkey and modeled the current and future range of the species under different climatic regimes.

4 October 2022: Added comments under Leptodactylus tapiti (Leptodactylidae) and Scinax rupestris (Hylidae), noting the first records of these speces beyond their type localities by Guerra Batista, Ramalho, Machado, and Brandão, 2022, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 53: 33–51, who provided records from the Serra do Tombador Nature Reserve, Goiás, Brazil, as part of a biodiversity study of that region.

4 October 2022: Added a comment under Gyrinophilus subterraneus (Plethodontidae), noting the publication of Campbell Grant, Mulder, Brand, Chambers, Wynn, Capshaw, Niemiller, Phillips, Jacobs, Kuchta, and Bell, 2022, Conserv. Genetics, 23: 727–244, who reported on a hybrid zone with partial reproductive isolated between this species and adjacent population of Gyrinophilus porphyriticus. They also addressed population declines of Gyrinophilus subterraneus.
4 October 2022: Modified the range statement of Pristimantis quantus (Strabomantidae) and added a comment under that record to conform to the publication of Grisales-Martínez and Rendón-Valencia, 2022, Cuad. Herpetol., 36: 119–122, who provided a record from Natural Reserve El Centella, municipality of Jardín, Antioquia, Colombia, 2461 m elevation, summarized the known range, comparative morphology, habitat, and conservation status.
4 October 2022: Added Leptobrachella verrucosa (Megophryidae), named by Wang, Zeng, Lin, and Li in Lin, Li, Lu, Su, Wu, Zhang, Mo, Xiao, Pan, Pan, Zeng, and Wang, 2022, Herpetozoa, Wien, 35: 165–178, from Lianshan Bijiashan Nature Reserve, Lianshan County, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, China.
4 October 2022: Modified the range statement of Minervarya chilapata (Dicroglossidae) to include Nepal, based on the publication of Gautam and Bhattarai, 2022, Herpetozoa, Wien, 35: 179–185, who provided records from Morang District, southeastern Nepal, and Chitwan National Park, south-central Nepal, and suggested that the species ranges from the type locality in northern West Bengal, India, west through southern Nepal and adjacent Bihar, India, to at least the level of Chitwan National Park, Nepal. The authors also discussed conservation status, the advertisement call, and morphometrics.
3 October 2022: Placed Nyctibatrachus deveni and Nyctibatrachus periyar (Nyctibatrachidae) into the synonymy of Nyctibatrachus aliciae, and Nyctibatrachus pillaii into the synonymy of Nyctibatrachus vasanthi, following the evidence-dense results of Abraham, Rao, Zachariah, and Brown, 2022, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 110: 526–546.
2 October 2022: Added Pristimantis omarrhynchus and Pristimantis miltongallardoi (Strabomantidae), from, respectively the eastern foothills of the Ecuadorian Andes in Napo and Sucumbios provinces. The authors also address comparative morphology and relationships within the Pristimantis boulengeri group.
30 September 2022: Added Rana taihangensis (Ranidae), named by Chen in Shen, Xu, Yang, Chen, Xiao, and Chen, 2022, Asian Herpetol. Res., 13: 145–158, from Beijing City, Hebei Province, and the southeastern Taihang Mountains of Henan Province, China, 116 to 1943 m elevation.

27 September 2022: Modified the range statements for Oscaecilia ochrocephala and Oscaecilia polyzona (Caeciliidae) and added comments under those accounts noting the publication of Fernández-Roldán, Lynch, and Bocanumenth, 2022, Rev. Latinoam. Herpetol., 5: 25–31, who discussed diagnostic features that separate this species as well as discussing the range and providing a dot map for both species in Colombia.
27 September 2022: Modified the range statement under Leptodactylus brevipes (Leptodactylidae) and added a comment under that account noting the publication of Carrillo, Santana, and Prado, 2022, Rev. Latinoam. Herpetol., 5: 64–68, who provided a new record for Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, and mapped the known range as well as discussing parental care.

21 September 2022: Added Odorrana concelata (Ranidae), named by Wang, Zeng, and Lin in Lin, Li, Su, Yi, Pan, Sun, and Zeng, 2022, ZooKeys, 1120: 47–66, from Longlinchang Village (24°04′47″N, 112°40′37″E; ca. 280 m a.s.l.), Jintan Town, Qingyuan City, Guangdong, China.
21 September 2022: Added a comment under Neurergus derjugini (Salamandridae), noting the publication of Mawlodi, Rastegar-Pouyani, Rastegar-Pouyani, and Rostami, 2022, Russ. J. 14 September 2022: Added a comment under Barbarophryne brongersmai (Bufonidae), noting the publication of Fattah, Atif, and El Alami, 2022, Arxius Misc. Zool., 20: 33–39, who provided a record from Azilal (1364 m elevation) and 15 km SW of Azilial, Morocco, and provided a map of the species' distribution in Western Sahara, Morocco, and Algeria.
3 September 2022: Added a comment under Atelopus exiguus (Bufonidae), noting the publication of Astudillo, Jiménez, Siddons, and Timbe, 2022, Rev. Peruana Biol., 29 (e22742): 1–4, who provided new localities and discussed habitat and conservation.

2 September 2022: Modified all species records for Euphlyctis (Dicroglossidae), transferring Phrynoderma into that genus as a subgenus and made extensive comments extending from the publication of Dufresnes, Mahony, Prasad, Kamei, Masroor, Khan, Al-Johany, Gautam, Gupta, Borkin, Melnikov, Rosanov, Skorinov, Borzée, Jablonski, and Litvinchuk, 2022, Syst. Biodiversity, 20 (2102686): 1–25, who reported on taxonomic, phylogenetic, and nomenclatural issues within Euphlyctis (sensu lato).
1 September 2022: Added comments under Dendropsophus nanus, and Dendropsophus walfordi (Hylidae) noting the publication of Seger, Teixeira, Annibale, Rossa-Feres, Lima, Andrade, Giaretta, and Lourenço, 2021, Diversity, 13 (11: 522): 1–23, which addressed these and three unnamed associated lineages. On the bases of calls, morphology, and molecular markers the authors redelimited the named species in the complex and showed that populations from eastern Bolivia to eastern Brazil represent three unnamed species. They restricted Dendropsophus nanus to southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, and northern Argentina, and restricted Dendropsophus walfordi to central Bolivia north through western Amazonia to French Guiana and northern Pará, Brazil.

So, I was pleased to see this discussion on the erratic or poor results of 16s rDNA-only studies of phylogenetic estimation and species delimitation.
